Help Children of Wine Industry Workers Earn a Degree
The Juan Nevarez Memorial Scholarship supports the children of California’s vineyard and winery workers. 98 percent of recipients have been the first in their family to enroll in a higher education institution. First-generation students are more likely to have a lower-income family background, lack of support, and inadequate access to resources.
By providing a combination of financial and support services, this program increases graduation rates and develops a qualified workforce that will contribute back to their community.

Every Gift Makes a Difference
Addressing Financial Barriers
Cost is a major factor in whether or not a student can obtain a degree. Because our goal is college success, the program isn’t a one-time award. Recipients receive multi-year scholarships to trade, two- and four-year schools, and a college success bonus to help them launch into their next phase. Funding ranges from $6k to $20k per student.
Guidance & Mentorship
Financial constraints are not the only barrier to graduation. This program makes a unique investment in a Scholarship Administrator who is a resource to the students throughout their collegiate career. NSPA states that "Scholarship providers have a unique opportunity to positively impact student success by also investing in support services that help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally… Students who receive these services are more likely to remain engaged and enrolled, ultimately increasing their chances of graduating and achieving their goals.”
