Dear Scholarship Committee and Juan Nevarez Scholarship donors,

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the scholarship that I was fortunate enough to receive. The Juan Nevarez Scholarship will have an incredible impact on my academic journey as a first generation-student.

The significance of this scholarship in helping me achieve my academic goals cannot be overstated. As a first-generation student hailing from a low-income family, pursuing higher education has always been a dream for me. However, financial constraints have often posed significant challenges along the way. 

The Juan Nevarez Scholarship has helped to alleviate this burden, allowing me to focus on my studies without the constant worry of financial obligations. Having someone believe in my potential and providing the resources necessary for me to succeed has helped me become more determined to succeed academically.

This next fall I will be attending UC Davis, and will be majoring in English. Going to a prestigious school such as a UC does come with its costs that would have been difficult to cover on my own. It's important to mention that I have ambitions beyond obtaining a bachelor's degree; my long-term goal is to continue my education and become a lawyer.

In conclusion, I would like to express my deepest appreciation for the Juan Nevarez Scholarship. It has not only lightened my financial burden but has also instilled in me a renewed sense of determination and drive to achieve my academic aspirations.
