- Western SARE Cover Crop Experiment (Craig Macmillan)
- Estimating Vine Water Use (Craig Macmillan)
- Managing Irrigation with Actual ET (Tom Shapland)
Soil analysis tells us what nutrients are available and can tell us how they are being depleted, but analyzing leaf and petiole tissue tells us what the vine actually needs. Speakers will discuss tissue sampling procedures and how to interpret results.
An efficient irrigation schedule only replaces the water that the vine has lost since the last irrigation, therefore, estimating this loss is critical. Speakers will cover different techniques and technologies for estimating vine water use.
Vineyard Team is conducting an experiment to determine the effects of cover crops and cover crop termination practices on soil moisture. Preliminary results from the first year of the experiment will be presented.
Confirmed Speakers:
Dan Rodrigues, owner, VinaQuest LLC; Tom Shapland, Ph.D., Co-Founder & CEO, Tule Technologies; Craig Macmillan, Ph.D., Technical Program Manager, Vineyard Team.
